Q&A Why is it difficult in diagnosis of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy?
HOCM is a complex multifaceted disease that may affect the heart in different ways. It is one of the most common inherited cardiac diseases but its occurrence in the general population remains low so as a cardiologist you may not encounter many cases in your practice thus sometimes making the diagnosis is a challenge. Also patients may be asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and HCM might not be the first diagnose that comes to mind to the general practitioners. Being a center specialized in HCM we have the advantage of seeing more patients with this disease on a weekly basis and having a great experience with diagnosis and treatment.
