“European Cardiomyopathy Center”, Bucharest, Romania, founded by Prof. Dr. Lucian Dorobantu, is the only center in Central and Eastern Europe dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy / HOCM.
Benefiting from the support of Prof. Dr. Paolo Ferrazzi, World-class expert in the HOCM surgery, The Romanian team approaches an original surgical technique consisting in – one-piece shallow septal myectomy and cutting of the secondary chordaes of the mitral valve. The Ferrazzi’s method brings the benefit of preserving the mitral valve, with a success rate of over 98%, one of the highest rate in the world.
Recognized worldwide and published by The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the Ferrazzi’s technique aims to correct mitral valve defects, which is a notable benefit for the patient’s quality of life and a step forward in this type of surgery

The evolution is a process by which different kinds of living organisms are believed to have developed from earlier forms during the history of the Earth. From a scientific point of view, evolution is equivalent with progress, meaning a gradual process in which something turns into a more complex or a better form, a necessity and a challenge for human development. Human society has to use the scientific progress at its best to generate a better standard of living.
The complexity, heterogeneity and unpredictability of inherited cardiovascular diseases generated the development and progress of the field in terms of clinical importance, diagnosis, treatment, surgery, follow-up, prevention, risk stratification and prognosis.
To achieve these objectives, a dedicated center for specific pathologies should include functional units of clinical and basic sciences, diagnosis-treatment-surgery specialized units, research, training and education resources, bringing together knowledge and expertise, acting in harmony in a personalized therapeutic approach.
This is the reason for which we founded The European Cardiomyopathy Center in Romania, an integrative concept prepared to offer the highest expertise in the field of research, training, education, diagnosis, treatment and surgery of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
The European Cardiomyopathy Center-ECC-has all the necessary premises to become a point of reference and for relevant opinions in the innovation and the progress of the hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy treatment, for the benefit of science and for the patient care.

Our mission is to inform and guide the patients around the world to find the appropriate medical care and a personalized solution for the medical treatment of this difficult pathology.
